The head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has officially stepped down.
Richard Cordray had previously announced he would be resigning at the end of the month.
It became effective on Friday.
Cordray has tapped the agency's chief of staff Leandra English as his acting replacement.
The CFPB was created to oversee banks and other financial institutions after the 2008 financial crisis.
