Farmers in Southport came together Sunday to raise money for Magen David Adom – Israel’s national emergency medical, disaster, ambulance and blood bank service.
What began as just Butternut Farm selling flowers in exchange for donations to Israel quickly became a community effort.
People could also make donations without buying a bouquet. Farmers say they are overwhelmed by the support.
“Just hundreds of people coming by telling their stories, how they have family over in Israel. Some people are not in touch with the family over there,” says Keric Kennt, owner of Butternut Farm. “The turnout, the numbers, the emotions…it's just been a beautiful experience.”
