A concert was held in Atlantic Highlands Saturday afternoon to raise awareness about teens struggling with depression, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The “Concert for a Cause” was put on for kids, by kids and hosted by the SPTS Monmouth & Ocean Youth Wellness Council.
In between sets, teenagers who have struggled with mental illness shared their experiences and let others who may be struggling know that they are not alone.
Susan Tellone, the clinical director of the Society for Prevention of Teen Suicide, says many teens lost their usual outlets during the pandemic and more of them are having struggles with mental health.
“No matter what age you are, this is a difficult time and there are plenty of resources to help you,” she says.
