A community in the Bronx is fighting a battle it thought it had already won.
Neighbors near a piece of an Astor Avenue property say a developer is trying to build a medical facility in the middle of a residential area for a second time. Last year, the community rejected a 19,000-square-foot plan to build a facility. Now, the developer is back with a plan for a building half that size, but community leaders say it still violates zoning laws.
Residents fear some of the plans would worsen flooding issues and increase traffic. They add that there is already a medical facility in the area.
Two public hearings are scheduled on the issue. The first will be at P.S. 97 on Sept. 9.
