Changes are coming to how New Jersey public schools teach science, thanks to a review of the core curriculum.
Every five years, the state reviews the nine subjects in the curriculum. No changes are planned for English and math, last updated in 2010 to reflect the standards developed by New Jersey and several other states.
New science lessons could include "wave technology" and some engineering.
"What we're looking to do is continue to raise the bar and to support our students as well as our educators so that we can have their dreams come true, that they can really realize their potential," says New Jersey Department of Education Spokeswoman Tracey Severns.
There will be three public hearings for parents and teachers to share their thoughts on the state's curriculum.
