Students at William Paterson University rallied Tuesday against Gov. Jon Corzine?s proposed budget cuts.

Under Corzine?s plan, state colleges and universities stand to lose millions in state funding. Students at the rally in Wayne urged the governor to save higher education by dropping the cuts. Other students at the rally were convinced their tuition will continue to increase if Corzine?s budget is passed.

Administrators at William Paterson University declined on-camera interviews. However, they said it is too early to comment on a possible tuition increase. In the meantime, students will have to wait until July to find out if they will be paying more for their education.

The Commission for Higher Education anticipates a 6 to 8 percent increase in tuition at all state schools next year.
