Some New Jersey couples going through a divorce have found a new way to formally lay their marriages to rest.
Jill Testa said she created the Wedding Ring Coffin after her own marriage of 20 years failed.
?You go through so many emotional ups and downs and I think that the coffin really helps a person find some closure,? Testa said. ?They put the ring in the coffin, close the lid on the coffin and on that chapter of their lives.?
The coffins are made of wood with a dark mahogany finish. They are 6 inches long and 2 inches wide, with a black velvet interior. There is a spot inside to hold a wedding ring.
Experts say the divorce rate peaked in 1981 and is now down by one-third. However, some residents said there is still a market for the wedding ring coffin.
