Ida caused massive destruction around New Jersey when it roared through the state on Wednesday. It was hardly the first major storm that New Jersey has had to deal with that caused massive amounts of damage.
And hurricane season is far from over, with the potential for more storms to come to the Garden State.
The extreme weather has Gov. Phil Murphy and other state officials talking about climate change. The topic came up while the governor toured Millburn with other officials, including the president of the state Board of Public Utilities.
“To hear [President Joe Biden] talk about climate change, renewable energy is one of the areas that needs to be focused on… We have to continue to work together to mitigate this,” BPU president Joseph Fiordaliso said.
Biden is promising action and movement in Congress. He says that he plans to make historic investments in electrical infrastructure, and to make America more resilient to storms, wildfires and floods.
