Paterson's Great Falls ran dry during a cleanup.
Eagle Creek Renewable Energy on Thursday diverted the Passaic River so workers could clean up debris along the shore and in the falls. The cleanup happens at least once a year.
The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission says fallen trees, tires and garbage cause blockages.
The Great Falls became a National Historical Park in 2009.
