State police are investigating an incident that happened at the Orange County Fair last night, where a circus show was interrupted after a performer was hit with an arrow and sent to the hospital.

The New York State Police said that Ana B. Daza Tavera, 42, and Edwin A. Cuervo Rangel, 38, both of Wisconsin, were performing for spectators when Daza Tavera fired an arrow at a foam target held by Cuervo Rangel.

Wallkill Police and State Police reported the call from Orange County Fair at approximately 9:30 p.m. that Friday night, and audiences were ushered out of the tent while paramedics arrived to administer aid.

The performer was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center where the arrow was surgically removed from his neck. No one in the audience was injured.

The circus has released a statement saying that Cuervo Rangel is in stable condition, and that they are grateful for the support received. He is expected to be released soon.

State police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Middletown at (845) 344-5300.
