Gov. Chris Christie held an event at the site of the American Dream project to speak about job growth and economic improvement in the Garden State.
New Jersey added nearly 25,000 jobs in June and July, according to data just released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Christie said that the American Dream project and an increase in road construction are just two things adding to the growth in the state.
“[Standard and Poor’s] is now reporting the highest level of jobs in New Jersey history…non-farm employment income continues to grow,” the governor said.
Christie also added that New Jersey’s unemployment rate of 4.2 percent is lower than the national average, and lower than neighboring states New York and Pennsylvania.
The governor said that construction on the long-delayed American Dream project was able to resume thanks to his economic growth policies.
