(AP) - A federal prosecutor who received a$46,000 loan from her boss - now the Republican candidate for NewJersey governor - has resigned.
In her resignation letter submitted Tuesday, Michele Brown saysshe doesn't want to be a distraction for the office.
GOP candidate Chris Christie was U.S. attorney for New Jerseywhen Brown received the loan in 2007.
Brown's resignation was first reported by The Star-Ledger ofNewark on its Web site.
Democrats had questioned the ongoing financial relationshipbetween Christie and Brown - now the state's No. 2 federalprosecutor. But Christie said earlier Tuesday that he saw noproblem and planned to continue the arrangement.
Christie said he and his wife loaned Brown the money afterBrown's husband lost his job.
