At a town hall held in West New York today, Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) made his case about passing his public worker sick-time and civil-service system reform bills.

At the town hall meeting, Christie asked voters to email their lawmakers. Christie was joined by Democratic mayors from West New York, Hoboken and Union City. The governor says allowing public employees to cash out their accrued sick time is crushing municipal budgets. He also says the civil service system keeps mayors from efficiently managing their staff.

Democrats control the Legislature and must sign off on either of those two reforms.
