The Children’s Cancer Institute in Hackensack received a $100,000 grant from Hyundai Hope On Wheels on Tuesday.
Kids got to participate by painting a car with their handprints. The money will help create an adolescent and young adult program for patients needing specialized care.
“Corporate dollars are really important to fund things like this. We don’t get funding from the government for things like this...so to do these specialized programs, corporate giving, and other philanthropy is really important to get them going,” said a hospital spokesperson.
The Children’s Cancer Institute treats more than 200 patients each year.
