The Challenged Athletes Foundation donated a brand-new wheelchair to a New Milford teen who wishes to play wheelchair basketball.
Jeremy Tantsits has spina bifida and had dreams of playing wheelchair basketball. He applied for a grant and won the new chair.
He says that the wheelchair sport has the opportunity to take him places.
“Without wheelchair basketball, I wouldn’t be able to express myself,” he says. “I can go to a good college. I can look forward to things, like possibly traveling the country, traveling the world.”
“Having a goal, national team, Paralympics, playing professionally in Europe, it changes everything,” says Bob Babbitt, who works for the foundation.
The Challenged Athletes Foundation has given out nearly $100 million in grants across the country over the past 25 years.
Tantsits says that he is thankful for the support.
