A staple on the Jersey Shore, and a good tasting one at that, is celebrating its 100th anniversary today.
Hundreds will likely be enjoying the big money maker at Kohr’s frozen custard stand -- orange creamsicle swirl -- the most popular flavor.
Third generation owner Greg Kohr says frozen custard has egg yolks in it, which his grandfather came up with when they were in Coney Island to try and get the ice cream that they were selling at the time not to melt – and that was the birth of frozen custard.

Mayor Tony Vaz says the simple dessert is so important to so many visitors each season. “It’s important the business community stick together and work a product like Greg has that’s gonna be flavored by all the people that visit us,” said Vaz.
Dozens of bands will be performing throughout the weekend to help celebrate this major milestone.
