A 3-year-old boy is safe after an alleged carjacker stole a car while he was inside it.
A city spokesperson says the incident happened Wednesday on the 1100-block of Chestnut Street in Elizabeth. A father supposedly left his car running with the 3-year-old in the back seat.
Another person jumped inside the car and drove away with the child in tow. The toddler was later found still in the car seat, in front of a YMCA. The little boy was not hurt.
The suspect was later arrested.
This is the second time this week that a car was stolen with a child inside. On Monday, a man allegedly stole a car with a 1-year-old girl inside in Hamilton. That girl's mother had run inside a gas station, leaving the child inside. The little girl was found soon after and was also unharmed.
