St. John's Episcopal Church in Little Silver hosted
a candlelight vigil Wednesday night to honor gun violence victims and advocate
for peace.
Signs on the church lawn
showed the number of people killed in each state by gun violence this year
alone.
"We felt that the
community should come together because there's a lot of division in the country
right now, and we wanted to help the community come together to bring healing
and to see if we can make the next step and walk forward in peace," says Rev. Tammy Young.
It's the first year the church has held a gun
violence vigil. Church officials say they're open to doing it again next year.
