A Bergen County community came together Tuesday night to remember a teenager killed in a crash Friday night.
The crash happened Friday near Marginal Road and Wheaton Place. A 17-year-old boy was killed, and three other teens were injured. One of those injured teens is Nick DeGennaro. He spoke at the vigil to thank the first responders and the community.
"I want to thank you all for coming and showing us your support. We all really appreciate the words, visits, food, and love that everyone has been showing us,” he said. “I want to thank you to all our friends who have been by our sides. Thank you to all of the doctors and nurses who took care of myself and continue to take care of Nate and Nico as they recover."
The other teens had a variety of injuries and are expected to undergo surgery.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police say that it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
