The cold weather isn't a negative for everyone, especially for people at Campgaw resort in Mahwah.
The resort is opening a little early this year, thanks to the cooperative weather. The mountain will be open Saturday, and the trails will be filled with skiers and snowboarders.
"I think we opened Jan. 7 last year," says Tony Rinaldi, director of daily operations. "Where as this year, the 17th is nice and early."
Groomers were out Friday getting trails and the tubing park ready for the weekend.
"We have a lot of part-time staff here, a lot of kids that rely on the job too, so it's also perfect for them because they get more hours in the year," says Rinaldi.
It's not just the latest cold snap that's helped out with the early opening. The resort has a new tech-heavy snow-gun system that reads weather elements and makes snow automatically.
