We're learning more about the disturbing 911 call that came in from a Camden woman who police say decapitated her 2-year-old son before stabbing herself to death while police were outside her home.
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says 33-year-old Chevonne Thomas, of Camden, called 911 just after midnight and allegedly reported that her boyfriend had stabbed the child.
Before long, Thomas admitted she had committed the crime, repeatedly saying 'You know what, I did it, I'm lying, I'm lying...I did it, I did it...' to the dispatcher.
Spokesman Jason Laughlin says officers arrived to find 2-year-old Zahree Thomas' body on the first floor and the boy's head in the freezer.
Laughlin says the child's mother was upstairs still talking to the 911 operator when officers backed out of the home because they didn't know if she was armed.
Laughlin says after placing the 911 call, the mother then stabbed herself in the neck with a kitchen knife and died.
Prosecutors say Thomas had lost custody of her son in 2010 when she allegedly left the boy unattended in a car and had just regained custody of Zahree about 5 months ago.
At that time, authorities say she admitted having smoked marijuana laced with PCP and blacking out in a park.
