Camden County officials have passed a resolution that they say will protect the county’s residents from gun violence. The resolution comes following a United States Supreme Court ruling making it easier for Americans to carry weapons.
“Since the Supreme Court ruled in June that the U.S. Constitution provides a right to carry a gun outside of the home, the Board of Commissioners has been working on a resolution to better protect residents and visitors from senseless gun violence,” officials wrote in a statement.
The new rules will prohibit anyone from carrying a gun – even if it is concealed – in several key areas. This includes inside government buildings, courthouses, parks and other recreational areas.
The restrictions do not apply to law enforcement officers.
