BX track and field stars shine at PSAL championships

The Public Schools Athletic League awarded the borough?s strongest and fastest at the Bronx Borough Track and Field Championships Monday.
Hundreds of Bronx athletes converged on Randall?s Island to compete in the 2007 championships.
Wings Academy?s Michael Lee cleared 6 feet to win the gold medal for the high jump. Shane Smith of Truman High School won the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 11 inches.
Lehman High School?s Jonathan Rampersad won the 3,200-meter race in 10 minutes, 33.66 seconds, and John F. Kennedy High School took the 100-meter relay with a time of 44.93. The winning discus toss went to Albert Williams of Bronx Science with his 101-foot throw.
Bronx Science won the overall boys title with 86 points.On the girls? side, Lehman?s Elon Daniel won the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 3 ¾ inches. DeWitt Clinton High School?s Ashley Fraser received the gold in the 3,000-meter race, and Jonelle Dixon came out on top in the 400-meter hurdles.
Truman girls won their overall title with 152 points.
