Starting Friday, northbound and southbound left lanes along Route 1 will be closed in order to begin construction on a new bridge.
Department of Transportation officials say that the bridge will be built in the median area of Route 287 directly above Route 1. The southbound lane of Route 1 will reopen in March, while the northbound lane won't reopen until completion of the project, slated for November.
Commuters are being told to plan accordingly as they may have to change their usual routes to work.
