Reality television host and real estate tycoon Donald Trump will be bringing golf to the Bronx in the next few years, after signing a 20-year deal that puts him in charge of constructing and running a brand-new public golf course at Ferry Point Park.
The city took over the property in 2008 after the private developer left the project and it has since remained under construction. Locals hope that with Trump in charge, the golf course will open soon and bring a boost to the borough's economy.
"It's going to be nice because the Bronx area needs something like that for the business to go up," said resident Silvia Leal.
The golf course, which will be located next to the Whitestone Bridge and give golfers a view of Manhattan's skyline, is expected to be completed in 2014. The city's Department of Parks and Recreation estimates the golf course will cost close to $97 million to build.
