Bridal shop helps women prepare for their big day, while also remaining COVID-compliant
An Essex County bridal shop is fitting women of all figures for their special day, while also following COVID-19 restrictions.
Maplewood Bridal says it celebrates women of all shapes and sizes.
“Getting married should be fun,” says owner Nidelka Mayers. “We try to make it unique as possible and as memorable as possible…Our specialty is curvy, plus-size brides.

The shop is by appointment only so that the bride-to-be can stay safe during the pandemic.
“The appointment is approximately two hours. Brides get the entire store to themselves for the two hours,” Mayers says. “We don’t limit the number of dresses that they can try on.”

There are also other safety protocols.
“We set up COVID stations…The biggest thing we do is we steam our dresses in between appointments,” Mayers says. “With COVID, if it’s a popular dress, then that’s a dress we will actually send out for dry cleaning.”
Mayers says that unlike traditional bridal shops, Maplewood Bridal can custom design dresses.
