At least one school in Ocean County has had to undergo cleaning due to mold.
Brick Township school officials told parents of Emma Havens Elementary School that what appears to be surface mold was found on desks in seven classrooms in one area of the building. Officials also said that a dehumidifier system in that section of the building was not working properly.
The school superintendent tells News 12 New Jersey that district employees cleaned the mold and replaced the dehumidifiers. The superintendent also said that an environmental company tested surfaces and air quality Wednesday to determine if any further cleanup is needed.
They are also monitoring temperature and humidity to make sure everything is safe for occupancy when school resumes next month.
