The announcement comes just days after Shell backed out as an equity partner last week, despite already investing nearly $1 billion into the project.

The Board of Public Utilities has withdrawn the fourth round of bid solicitations, delivering another blow to New Jersey’s offshore wind plans. The BPU says this comes after two bidders pulled out.
The announcement comes just days after Shell backed out as an equity partner last week despite having already invested nearly $1 billion in the project.
"I support the BPU's decision on the fourth offshore wind solicitation, and I hope the Trump Administration will partner with New Jersey to lower costs for consumers, promote energy security, and create good-paying construction and manufacturing jobs,” Gov. Phil Murphy wrote in a statement.
President Donald Trump paused all new offshore wind permits, approvals and loans through an executive order right after taking office.
