A 3-year-old boy suffered a serious injury to his face Monday night after he was bitten by a dog in the Normand Beach section of Toms River.
Police responded to the call on 4th Avenue where they found the child had been bitten by his family dog. The child was playing with the dog in the kitchen when the animal bit him in the face.
He was treated by EMS units and transported by medevac helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center.
Both parents were home at the time of the incident.
Toms River Animal Control officers responded to the scene. They took the dog into custody for evaluation and observation.
The boy is in stable condition.
