Eight years after a devastating storm, Bound Brook has a new permanent place to keep its heavy equipment.
A new public works building has opened in Bridgewater on Chimney Rock Road. Bound Brook and Bridgewater will share the space to store their heavy machinery, such as road plows and garbage trucks. Bound Brook?s old public works building was flooded and destroyed by Tropical Storm Floyd in 1999.
The land for the new building was purchased for $3 million from Stavola Quarry. More than $2 million in federal aid received by Bound Brook was also used to construct the building. The Bound Brook mayor says the new building will not only protect machinery from flooding, but it will also save the town money on rent.
