The borough of Haworth is looking to go green by adding solar panels to power municipal buildings.
Officials are not working with the state to come up with the plan.
There would be a solar farm in the back of the public works building. The power would then generate through the grid to borough buildings.
"This is dealing with the future. This is dealing with what ought to be done,” says Mayor Thomas Ference. “The governor has put up a zero-impact regulation by 2030. Might as well get in front of it. So, this is environmentally sound, it's cleaner energy, it's more effective."
If the plan is approved, it would have to be put out to bid. There was no word on how much the project would cost.
