The body pulled from the Manasquan River on Saturday has been positively identified as missing boater Derek Narby of Brick.
Narby’s body was found near the Wharfside on the Point Pleasant Beach side of the Manasquan River - about a half mile from where the boat flipped back on the night of Sept. 14. State police made the positive identification.
Extensive search efforts by ground, air and water took place along miles of coastline. Narby, 21, was out fishing with two family members when they ran into trouble trying to get back. Massive swells from Hurricane Lee pummeled the inlet.
The incident was captured by a nighttime stationary surf camera. The video shows the boat's light at the mouth of the inlet, before a huge wave broke and flipped the approximately 30-foot-long Aquasport in the water.  Two people on board were rescued within minutes but Narby never made it out.
A GoFundMe has been set up. So far, close to $12,000 has been raised.
