A person was struck and killed by a train at the Linden station on the Northeast Corridor rail line today,temporarily halting service at the height of the evening rush hour.
NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel said the body was found about5:30 p.m. and a preliminary investigation indicates the victimwalked or fell into the side of a passing train.
Train service had resumed in both directions by 7:30 p.m., butwith 20- to 30-minute delays, Stessel said.
The Northeast Corridor line links Trenton and New York's PennStation.
Stessel said it appears the victim was an adult, but no furtherinformation was immediately available.
