(AP) - The body of a toddler found in a NewJersey river was apparently stolen from a grave in Connecticut.
Two men fishing in the Passaic River found a girl's body in abag at the shoreline.
Police in Stamford, Conn., say an investigation led authorities to the grave of a 2-year-old child who was buried there in 2007.
Authorities exhumed the grave and found an empty coffin.
Stamford Police Capt. Sean Cooney would not release the child's identity Tuesday but says authorities believe she was properly buried.
He says that the grave appeared undisturbed but that the coffin was damaged. That indicates the theft wasn't recent.
He says police have no reason to suspect the child's family was involved.
