A community came together Sunday to save lives in honor of a state trooper who lost his life in the line of duty.
The Highland Park First Aid Squad held their second memorial blood drive in memory of fallen state trooper Anthony Raspa.
Raspa, a Highland Park resident, was killed in a car crash with a deer in 2015.
Organizers say donating something as valuable as blood pays homage to Raspa's sacrifice.
"People should just support their local police because they have quite a difficult job and they often don't get recognized for it and sometimes they pay the ultimate sacrifice," says Naomi Hanoch, the blood drive's chairperson.
The Highland Park First Aid Squad says the blood drive will be held every year.
