The city of Paterson will be getting a Black Lives Matter mural.
The mural will be painted at Paterson’s Underground Railroad Memorial on Broadway.
Mayor Andre Sayegh says that the mural is an opportunity to connect the historical significance of the site with the calls for racial justice that the country is hearing today.

“Think about what it symbolizes. The significance, the struggle. Today we stand together in one voice letting everyone know that the struggle continues,” the mayor says. “That there would be no more appropriate site for a mural of Black Lives Matter than in front of hallowed ground – the Underground Railroad site.”
Sayegh says that the mural will be a tribute to all those who struggled with racial injustice since the country was founded more than 400 years ago.
