7ds agoNew Jersey residents hoping to score big deals lined up Friday at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford. There were lines of cars waiting to get into the parking garages, and management tells News 12 New Jersey that foot traffic is up 36% over this day last year.
Lauren McCay is from Rochester, New York. She was visiting family in Poughkeepsie and decided to drive to American Dream to experience the mall on Black Friday.
News 12 asked her how much she planned to spend this holiday season, as a college student.
“Oh gosh, maybe like $400,” McCay said. “It's been a lot of fun. I’m not really used to this big of a layout, so it’s been cool looking at all of the different types of stores that this mall has.”
The megamall is unique because it’s located right across from MetLife Stadium where the Jets were playing the Dolphins.
Football fans were left disappointed as the Jets lost the game, but some could have avoided the traffic back by stopping at the American Dream Mall to do some quick shopping.
All attractions at the mall were also 50% off Friday, management says.
