A system is bringing precipitation of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain to the region today. The precipitation has started off as snow across the Hudson Valley but will change towards a wintry mix in the midday hours and then finally to all rain later this evening.
As the snow comes down, the main roads/highways will be wet while there could be some sticking on the side streets, grassy surfaces and elevated surfaces. Accumulations are expected to be very low, about a coating to an inch. A winter weather advisory is in effect across Putnam, Orange, Dutchess and Ulster counties until the latest, 5 a.m. Wednesday.
After this system moves out, Wednesday will be a fairly nice day with temps up towards seasonal levels. The average high is 44° for this time of year. Unsettled weather returns through for Thursday into Friday, so don't put those umbrellas away for good just yet.
Saturday will be looking and feeling very nice, but Sunday could shape up to be even better! Temps will go from the 50s to the 60s over the course of the weekend. While the temps move up, the clocks will "spring forward". Yup, it's that time of year again for us to adjust the clocks in our homes as Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday at 2 a.m. We will get an extra hour of daylight starting Sunday but sadly loose an hour of sleep. The sunset time on Saturday is 5:52 p.m. and then on Sunday, it is at 6:54 p.m.
