Police are investigating a local college fraternity after having to save the life of an underage partygoer. Police found freshman Gary Devercelly, 18, of Long Beach, California, at Phi Kappa Tau frat house at Rider University around 1:50 a.m. Thursday. Authorities say Devercelly was vomiting from drinking too much alcohol and in desperate need of medical attention. Police say the teen lost consciousness and was brought to the hospital in critical condition. Mercer County police are treating the case as a possible hazing incident. The university says, depending on the outcome of the investigation, Phi Kappa Tau could be forced off campus, or the fraternity could lose its charter. Rider University Dean of Students Anthony Campbell hope this serves as a wake-up call; "universities all over the country have talked about alcohol being an issue on college campuses. Part of it is, we're not immune to what goes on in society." Devercelly remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit at the Capital Health System?s Helene Fuld Campus.
