A bill to outlaw text messaging while behind the wheel made it through the first hurdle in the state Assembly Thursday.
Some New Jersey lawmakers want to make it illegal to send a text message while driving. Many say texting while driving can spell danger.
Tow truck driver Jason Kavarsky said, ?I pick up accidents and I?ve seen [cell phones] opened up, on the floor.?
The state already has a law against talking on a cell phone while driving.
New Jersey is not the only state looking to ban text messaging behind the wheel. Arizona, Connecticut and Washington also have legislation in the works.
