For this week's Best of New Jersey, News 12's Tony Caputo visited Namkeen restaurant in Chatham and tasted Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffles with a Pakistani flair.
If hot is not for you, go naked, as it’s called, and leave the spice behind. Namkeen, which means savory, is also growing.
How about some delicious French fries topped with mint chutney? The combination is unique and something the owners, Usman Chaudhry and Amena Chaudhri, couldn’t wait to bring to New Jersey.
“I had a passion for cooking so when I opened this place, I wanted to have both Pakistani an American cuisine combine together. In the Halal community we were missing that when we were young, so I wanted to bring that so people had more options out here," Chaudhry said.
A second New Jersey location will open soon in downtown Metuchen.
