News 12 New Jersey’s Brian Donohue has spent the last 10 weeks rating and ranking different beaches at the Jersey Shore.
During his tour, he ranked the destination’s beach and its amenities, with a perfect score being 10/10. And while Cape May and Ocean City racked up scores of 9/10 – no beach came out with a perfect score.
And so Donohue set out to create what he considers would be the “Perfect 10/10 Beach” by combing all the great things the Jersey Shore has to offer.
The first aspect of a perfect beach has world-class bird watching, sunsets and a great cocktail hour on the porch of a Victorian home, like those in Cape May.
The beach is free for all to enjoy – no beach passes here. This is the way it works in Wildwood where anyone can go on the beach. Wildwood also has a long, sloping surf zone that is perfect for the very young and very old.
The perfect beach will have Wildwood’s great wooden roller coaster as well.
The beach will have the beautiful white sand and solitude of Ocean City’s Corson's Inlet State Park. There will also be the unpaved gravel lot from Atlantic City that allows anyone to have perfect solitude to be themselves.
The 10/10 beach has the lighthouses and restaurants of Long Beach Island and the boardwalk bars of Seaside Heights.
From Point Pleasant Beach, the perfect beach will take the fishing boats and inlet scene and the boardwalk batting cages.
It will have the music, diversity and overall vibe of Asbury Park.
And the beach will be lined with the jetties and sand bars of Belmar and Long Branch, as well as Long Branch’s half-mile-long public park.
While this perfect beach may only be a fantasy, Donohue has always said that the perfect beach is in reality, “your beach.”
