(09/21/07) EMERSON ? About 14,000 students returned to class Friday morning following a bomb threat that closed several Bergen County schools.
Schools were closed Thursday after the mayor of Emerson received a letter containing a bomb threat. The document, received Wednesday, stated that Emerson?s three schools and two others in a nearby town would be ?blown out? at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police with bomb-sniffing dogs were dispatched to schools, but no explosives were ever found. According to investigators, the note containing the bomb threat appears to have been computer-generated. Police are examining the document for clues.
