There will be no parade in Belmar to kick off the St. Patrick's Day celebrations across New Jersey for the first time in almost 50 years.
A Facebook post made by the official parade committee Tuesday evening says, "Unfortunately but not surprisingly, the 2021 parade cannot be held due to COVID-19."
Last year's parade held on Sunday, March 1 was one of the last public gatherings in the state. For Jersey Shore residents, the parade is more than just a multi-generational spectacle, it's a celebration of spring and the beginning of tourist season.
