Businesses and beachgoers in Belmar say they have had a stellar season this year.
Gail Hershey, the owner of The Beach Nut, tells News 12 that the hot and sunny days kept her sales sizzling throughout the summer. Other business owners also attribute little rainfall to their lucrative numbers.
The manager of Annie's Ice Cream says the shop's former location in a boardwalk pavilion was destroyed by Sandy. While the old location was better, Terry Self says that serving ice cream from a trailer has still been profitable.
The borough's beach revenues for badges and parking broke records this year, hitting $3.6 million before the Labor Day weekend. The numbers broke the previous best set in 2010, according to Mayor Matt Doherty.
