Crowds flocked to Long Branch and other Shore towns Saturday amid summer-like temperatures for the first official weekend of fall.
Despite the warm weather, officials are advising people to keep out of the water. The remnants of Hurricane Jose have churned up mighty waves and strong rip currents all along the Jersey Shore.
And the National Weather Service is warning that rip current risks could last well into next week. Hurricane Maria, now a Category 3 storm, is working its way north in the Atlantic Ocean and is bringing with it rough surf along the U.S. East Coast.
Many Jersey beachgoers on Saturday were content with just being by the coast for the unseasonably warm weather.
"I think it's absolutely a perfect day," said Wendy Ackerman. "I think it's the last chance to hang on to summer."
