People packed Sandy Hook's beaches and parks to capacity Sunday amid beautiful weather.

The park was already at capacity by 11 a.m. It had to be shut down for a few hours until people left.

Heavy crowds also caused traffic to back up along Route 36 South.

The crowds were a benefit to neighboring Sea Bright, which often sees overflow from Sandy Hook.

The beach at Sandy Hook also closed Saturday after filling to capacity.
