Hundreds of kids from across Essex County were treated to a free shopping spree Sunday courtesy of the Essex County branch of the National Council of Jewish Women.
"We created this pop-up department store for economically disadvantaged children in Essex County who have been identified by social service agencies," said organizer Shari Harrison of the back-to-school store in West Orange.
Each kid was paired with an adult volunteer to help them get what they needed.
"Such a rewarding experience and the kids' smiles on their faces," said volunteer Danielle Kurlander. "It made it so important that this is how they will start their school year off."
