Another gas price increase in New Jersey pushes the average gallon of gas to $3.49.
AAA says the 5 cents overnight increase means that the price is up 41 cents in the last week.
However, at the Alexander Hamilton Rest Stop, gas is $3.42.
The Turnpike Authority says the cost of gasoline at Sunoco service stations on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway can be adjusted up to three times a week based on a survey of prices at stations elsewhere in New Jersey.
According to AAA, Bergen, Passaic and Middlesex, Gloucester, Salem and Cumberland counties have the cheapest average gallon of gas. Ocean County has the most expensive.
However, New Jersey is still below the national average of $3.58.
AAA cites the war in the Middle East as making crude oil prices higher.
