(AP) - Emerson police say they've suspended theirsearch for a mother of three whose husband tried to commit suicidedays after she vanished.
Police Chief Michael Saudino says the investigation into Liza Murphy's disappearance has been stymied since anextensive search yesterday failed to yield clues.
More than 200 police officers and volunteers walkedshoulder-to-shoulder over about 375 acres around the OradellReservoir.
Meanwhile, a lawyer for Murphy's husband, Joseph, claims hisclient is innocent. Joseph Rem says his client attempted suicide byjumping in front of a car because he was "despondent" after hiswife vanished on August 19th.
The police chief says Liza Murphy was on antidepressantmedication and had a history of substance abuse.
